CALL THIS THURSDAY @ 1PM - Coalition of over 1,100 small businesses to discuss cumulative costs, refund delays, and ongoing tariff threats one year after tariff shock
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- We Pay the Tariffs, a grassroots coalition of over 1,100 small businesses from across the country, will hold a press call on Thursday, March 26, ahead of the one-year anniversary for President Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs, which were imposed on April 2, 2025.
Small business owners from multiple states will join We Pay the Tariffs Executive Director Dan Anthony to discuss:
One year of damage - The cumulative cost of presidential tariffs on American businesses since Liberation Day, including the latest state-by-state data from Trade Partnership Worldwide.
Refunds still not delivered - The Supreme Court struck down the IEEPA tariffs on February 20th, but over a month later, businesses are still waiting for full, fast, and automatic refunds of tariffs the Court ruled were illegally collected.
New tariffs replacing old ones - The administration's use of Section 122, 232, and 301 to reimpose tariffs after the Court's ruling, and what it means for small businesses one year after.
WHO:
- Dan Anthony, Executive Director, We Pay the Tariffs
- Matt Cagle, Rig'Em Right, Morehead City, NC. Outdoor and waterfowl gear company that has spoken out about the toll tariffs have taken on North Carolina small businesses.
- Kacie Wright, Houghton Horns, Keller, TX. Musical instrument company that is ready to lower prices — if tariffs actually go away.
- Ryan Guay, FLATED, Missoula, MT. Startup that designs and manufactures inflatable automotive accessories, forced to raise prices and freeze hiring due to tariffs.
- Jeanne Starmack, Cat in the Bag, New Castle, PA. Family-owned business of 26 years that has paid 50% tariffs on inventory from India, dipping into retirement savings to keep the company alive.
